Welcome to the Highlanders & Hanoverians Forums. It's easy to get involved, and easy to stay in touch. This post contains information about Registration and forum privileges.

The Forums are comprised of three main areas. The one that you're now reading this post in is the Public Area. Anyone, including guests, may read and post in the public area, so if you're a surfer who has a question about what we do, this is the place to get it answered. If you want to register, you may do so, but it is not necessary for you to use the Public Area.

There is a Members' Area, as well, for the use of those active in Highlanders & Hanoverians events. This Area has sections to discuss costuming, gear, and persona development.

There is also a forum for Unit Commanders and event organizers. The registration process is the same as for the Members Area, except that you will also receive  access to the one additional forum.

To Become a Member: On the main forum page, simply click on "Register" in the toolbar at the top of the page under the HIghlanders & Hanoverians Logo. You will be asked to choose a username and password and to enter a valid email address, after which the software will log you in. Once you register, send an email to the webmaster at jacobite@hotpop.com or send a Private Message (PM) through the forum system and you will be granted access to the members-only areas of the forums and notified of the change via email (I understand that this seems a bit cumbersome and slow, but it is currently the only way to keep track of new members). Once this is done, you are welcome to browse, read, and post on the forums, as well as modifying your profile (avatars are supported, as are short signature and quote files). The forum supports Private Messaging for quick notes to other posters and optional email notification of replies to your posts. In addition, there is also the option of "Quick Post" and "Quick Reply" for those of us who are unimpressed by smiley faces, special text effects, and similar message enhancements. The software is pretty user-friendly and self-explanatory, but if you have any problems, issues, or questions, please don't hesitate to email the webmaster and ask (as a reminder, please let us know what operating system and browser you are using when you encounter the problems...it saves a lot of time at this end).

If you have any questions or problems registering or  using the forums, please email me at the address above and I will do my best to resolve the issue.

If you have suggestions for new forums, email me and we can see about creating them.

Have fun, and enjoy the forums.
