Yes, folks...thanks to popular demand, we now have some rudimentary image hosting capability!
I've set up a php photo gallery at: http://www.1745rising.org/gallery2/main.php
You can register, add and caption your own photos, make albums, and use the URL's to hotlink to in the forum. Even if you're registered on the forum, you'll still have to re-register to use the gallery because it's different technology, but hey, it's finally up and running. I know the interface is ugly, but options were somewhat limited as far as customizing the look, and I figured content trumped form.
When you want to use a photo from the gallery in a post, right-click on the photo and go to "Properties." Cut and paste the URL it shows (which will probably end in .jpg), then use the "Insert Image" button on the "Add YABBC Tags" menu to surround the URL with the bracketed [IMG] tags. It may take a try or two, but you'll get the hang of it.
I'd also like some opinions...this gallery software also has the ability to link to photo printing services like Shutterfly and Photoworks so that viewers can order copies of pictures from the gallery. As of now, that feature is turned off, and I'd like to know what you all think...would you rather have it on or off?
I know that a lot of people have been asking for this for a while, and I wish it could have happened sooner, but making a living gets in the way of website maintenance sometimes. I'd like to see the thing be chock-full of event pictures, instructive photos of costuming, weaponry, and gear, and the like.
So...you asked for it, have fun.
Any problems or questions, email me.
