Hello everyone

I've been lurking on this site on and off for a few years now. I'm glad to finally be registered and be able to play with the rest of you.
I live in Portland, Oregon, I'm 32 years old, married with a 5 y/o daughter and a little boy due in mid February.

I've been into the "Jacobite thing" off and on for about 5 years now and would love to connect with fellow Highland soldiers in my area...
Anyone interested in a Jacobite camp out this spring/summer?

As for the rest of you, I look forward to many enjoyable discussions regarding all matters having to do with the history and especially garb/equipage relating to the '45.

I've made lots of my own kit including ghillies, targes, sporrans, sgian dub, hand forged dirk and about 25 powder horns.
I would like to make myself available to anyone who has questions about producing their own kit.

Anyways.....please chime in as I would love to get acquainted with you all.

Iain

Welcome aboard, Iain!
My wife and I flew into and out of your fair city when we visited my cousins who live in Salem.  We loved the  northern half of the coastline we were able to drive one of the days we were there.  We also loved the Cascade Mountains. We had lunch in Detroit after visiting one cousin's property on a mountaintop overlooking Mill City, and also had lunch at the Timberline Lodge our last day there.  We can't wait to get back again, and plan to travel the Columbia River Gorge and visit another cousin who lives in Bend so we can see the high desert on our next trip there.
I hope you will find other Jacobite enthusiasts in your area so you can do some living history events together.  We love doing them here in the northeast.
Slainte math, and Alba aye!

Wow....sounds like you've been around my neighborhood a time or 2  Wink

When you get into my neck of the woods, do not hesitate to get in contact with me.
As of now there's 3 of us well equipped and dedicated Jacobites with prospects for a few other members.

I am really jealous of you east-coast guys..plenty of super cheap coal and TONS of awesome reenactment groups.

Drive around parts of Tillamook county cow country and tell me it doesn't remind you of the UK Smiley

Part of our driving tour of the northern half of the Oregon Pacific coastline took us around Tillamook Bay and we made a stop at the Tillamook Cheese factory visitor center and store, of course.  I have never had sharp cheddar cheese from anywhere that came as close to rivaling New York State cheddar as Tillamook!
