From the 8/21/13 email from Clann of the Wolf NY Sept Chief Gordon Hubbell (
ghubbell@rochester.rr.com):
The Niagara Celtic Festival will be Sept. 14th and 15th. We can set up our camp Friday afternoon, Sept. 13th. We usually call that weekend "I Am Come Home!" with the landing of Bonnie Prince Charlie. The two-masted "Black Pearl" used to transport Prince Charles has been under repair and will be until next year. Instead of the landing we will call it "Raising the Standard" with the clans marching in and pledging their fealty, etc.. In addition, Prince Charles will give a welcoming speech for the benefit of the crowd.
We had some complaints from some of the clan booths about our firing the cannons so often. So Phil Banks (chairman) moved Clan Row away from their original area. I still need more clarification as to how much and when they would like us to play with the cannons.
I do have one request, and that is to fire the cannon(s) to start the the 5K race on Sunday morning, 10am (Vicar- please be aware of this event as it pertains to your church service).
Our location will remain the same, the west end of Krull Park where the stone wall is. I do believe that we will once again be given an honorarium which should cover insurance, food, and powder costs.
1. I need to know as soon as you know if you plan to attend and how many in your party as well as their names. We need to give the organizers a roster of attendees and get wrist bands. Anyone without a wrist band will have to pay the gate fee. Soooooo, please let me know ASAP. If you have never been to this festival, please consider it. Its not often we get to play and only have to pay our travel costs. If anyone needs to be picked up at an airport (i.e., Jeff Bills National Cadet, Florida—Russ is picking you up) let me know if you need to make arrangements and I will do what I can. We have extra tents, etc. if we know ahead of time.
2. Let me know if you want to put on any demonstrations. What it is, and materials needed. MacGregor likes to demonstrate how to carve up a pumpkin with a basket hilt sword. Russ and/or Missy will be cooking. Hmmm, that reminds me that we will all need to pitch in with food prep and cleanup so don't be bashful about asking how you can help. I will bring my Highlander Grog Coffee (Finger Lakes Coffee Roasters) and a bottle of Merry's Cream for the coffee.
